My pizza journey began in 2008 during one of the most challenging periods of my life. As a newly divorced father, I was looking for meaningful ways to spend time with my two young children and create lasting memories together.​  A close friend suggested making pizza. Her family had been doing it for years, and she thought my kids might enjoy it. She was right.

What started with a simple pizza stone, homemade dough, and a few basic recipes quickly became a family tradition. Pizza nights became something we looked forward to, and over time my passion for the craft continued to grow.

For years, I studied dough making, experimented with sauces, tested different techniques, blended flours, and learned as much as I could about the art of pizza making. In 2021, I purchased my first wood-fired pizza oven, and what had been a hobby quickly became an obsession. I spent countless hours researching, practicing, and refining my process. Some days I would make dough simply to study how it fermented and stretched. My family ate more pizza during those years than they probably care to admit.

What began as a way to connect with my children eventually became something much bigger.

Today, after more than 35 years in a career that I love, I decided it was time to pursue a dream of my own. With the support of my beautiful wife, Melissa, and our amazing blended family of five children, Vincent Van Dough was born.

​

In 2025, I traveled to Puglia, Italy, where I trained alongside traditional pizzaioli and deepened my understanding of authentic Italian pizza making. That experience reinforced what I had believed all along: great pizza is about more than ingredients and technique. It brings people together.

That philosophy is the foundation of Vincent Van Dough.
